Dear Customer,
Every three years, the Indian Wells Valley Water District hires an independent consultant to conduct a Cost of Service Study to ensure water rates and fees cover projected costs. The consultant’s proposed March 1, 2010 rate increase is designed to cover rising operating costs, capital costs, and debt service obligations including those related to new mandates for arsenic treatment. In the second year, the rate proposal would also include an increase for new water supply and conservation programs, which arise from increased consumption. Therefore, the proposed increases for new water supply and conservation in 2011 and subsequent years will not affect low water users with usage in the first three tiers. The IWVWD Board of Directors is holding a public hearing on February 8, 2010 to discuss and vote on proposed water rate and fee increases.
