How to Start or Stop Service

 

Start Service

New customers who want to start service for the first time must come into the District office at least one business day before the start date.

Continuing customers who want to start or transfer service may call Customer Service at 760-375-5086 at least one business day before the start date.

You will need to provide:

  • Your name
  • The service address
  • Whether or not you have had service with IWVWD before
  • Photo identification (new customers only)
  • Your social security number
  • Your driver’s license number
  • Your mailing address if different from the service address
  • The start date

All customers must pay a $20 service charge for new service, and a refundable security deposit at the time of application.  Go to page 17 to see the deposit policy including deposit amounts.  Security deposits will be refunded on any account that has remained in good standing for 12 consecutive months.

Customers must pay all collections balances on file before beginning new service.

Transfer Service

To transfer service, call Customer Service at 760-375-5086 at least one business day before the start and/or stop dates.

You will need to provide:

  • Your name
  • Your current service address
  • The new service address
  • Your social security number
  • Your driver’s license number
  • Your new mailing address if different from the new service address
  • The stop date for your current service address
  • The start date for your new service address

All customers will be charged a $20 service charge for the new service.  There is no charge to stop service.  Customers will only be charged a refundable security deposit if they have had three delinquent payments during the previous 12 months.  If a customer has a refundable security deposit on file, it will transfer to the new account.

Stop Service

To stop service, call Customer Service at 760-375-5086 at least one business day before you need to stop service.

You will need to provide:

  • Your name
  • The service address
  • Your social security number
  • Your driver’s license number
  • Your new mailing address if different from the service address
  • The stop date

Customers are not charged a fee to stop service.  Any security deposit on file when service is discontinued will be applied towards the final billing, and any remaining balance will be refunded.
