History
On January 24, 1955, the Ridgecrest County Water District was formed by consolidating several smaller water companies serving the Ridgecrest area with domestic water. Formation occurred when voters in the affected area approved the proposed creation of the District. The District was incorporated as a public agency on February 1, 1955.

The Board of Directors of the Indian Wells Valley Water District has adopted the following mission statement expressing its view of the specific mission or purpose of the District:
“The mission of the Indian Wells Valley Water District is to deliver the highest quality water at the best possible price while continuing to serve as respectful stewards of the environment.”
Vision
The Board of Directors of the Indian Wells Valley Water District has adopted the following vision statement expressing its view of the specific vision of the District:
“The vision of the Indian Wells Valley Water District is to provide for self-sustaining water resources now and for generations to come.”
